Review

DJ Headphones

The audio market if full of dual-cup DJ headphones, however these ones are manufactured well, sound well, and look smart. I particularly liked the headband padding which is leather-like and comfortable. It also has a strong tangle-free cord, and just the right amount of plastic to make them lightweight and robust.

Being a blogger, I cannot afford to buy new, however, I managed to get a pre-used one at the auction site, and it came without the pads, hence I used a different set of pads that were 75 mm diameter and cost around two pounds on eBay. I also opened it up for repair as one side was not producing sound, and it turned out to be nothing more than just a dry solder joint.

Providing you get a good fit around the ears, the bass response is very good from the 40 mm drivers. I measured the impedance of the driver coils which is approximately 32-Ω, hence this will sound good with vintage cassette walkmans with powerful audio output, and amplifiers. For entry -level budget-end headphones they sound good and are engineered well.

Price/eBay

These are often for sale on eBay and a brand new set usually costs less than ten pounds which is great value. They are extremely popular as you get lovely bass from the large drivers, and this is what professional DJ engineers like to hear. Before you rush off to eBay to see if you can buy a set, take a look at the following pages of this multi-page article showing the drivers and the ear-cup design.
